Nothing works quite like video when you want to turn an event into a spectacular!
When Mercedes-Benz of Southampton staged their official dealership launch, the high point of the evening was a 4'30" video projected onto huge screens at either end of the 22-car showroom. It told the story of nine months of construction and the German car dealerships surprising relationship with R. J. Mitchell, inventor of the Spitfire. This 'feel good video' had already inspired the staff at private screenings and now it would leave dignitaries and guests with a lasting impression of this state-of-the-art showroom
But when we were commissioned to produce the video, the groundwork and steel erection had already been completed. So having missed the opportunity to film these key stages, we cheated a little. We filmed groundwork at a nearby site and commissioned a 3D animation of the steelwork going up. Then we captured details of the fitting out of the building over the next six months. Finally we filmed a Spitfire from the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight for a 'twist' in the tale! With everything in the can, the edit was given a pacy, almost pop video style treatment, driven by a great track from Eagle-Eye Cherry.
